Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important official stated the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
