Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
