World Series Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extended matchup where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic game averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series averaged 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
